BuckID Available in Mobile Wallets

Your BuckID is now available in Apple Wallet, Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet!

Tap your iPhone, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy, or other eligible Android phones at readers across campus to conveniently use your mobile BuckID. Your mobile BuckID acts just like the physical card and now you can add it to your preferred digital wallet - and it works everywhere that a physical BuckID card does!

Am I Eligible for Mobile BuckID

Mobile BuckID is currently rolling out to most students and employees on the Columbus campus. Students, faculty and staff who are eligible to switch to mobile BuckID will receive an email from the BuckID office with additional information. Some people, including in the Wexner Medical Center and some health science colleges, are not currently eligible to switch.

Students that are in 100% online programs and remote employees can access a basic digital BuckID in the Ohio State App without needing to add the full mobile BuckID to their mobile wallet.

What If I Don't Have a Compatible Device or Prefer a Physical Card?

If your device is not on the list of compatible devices, you can still use and obtain a physical BuckID card. Simply visit the BuckID office to obtain a physical BuckID card.

Requirements to Add a Mobile BuckID

You must already have a photo on your BuckID account before you can add your BuckID to your mobile wallet. If you don't currently have a photo on file, you can find the photo requirements and more information on the submission process on our orientation page.  Photos will generally be reviewed and approved within 3 to 5 business days.

You must also have multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up for your Ohio State Name.# before you can add your mobie BuckID. You can find more information on multi-factor authentication (BuckeyePass) at my.osu.edu.

Mobile BuckID Activation Process

Get started by going to the BuckID section of the Ohio State app and look for the button that says Ready to Provision. You can also review our detailed instructions.

Your mobile BuckID will work almost immediately for residence hall access and in-person dining access once you add it to your mobile wallet. The transition of your academic building access, printing account, and timeclock access to your mobile BuckID may take until 9 AM the next business day.

Certain systems will also require you to take some action to complete the transition - specifically electronic key cabinets and online ordering through Grubhub. You can find additional information in our mobile frequently asked questions.
